"Silver Creek Sunset" by Paul Sloan

I am seldom completely satisfied with a finished painting, but whenever my wife looks and says "It's great!" I gain inspiration to continue painting. I realize that almost every thing I have learned I credit to my teacher and mentor Fred Choate. He has graciously pointed out what I need to continue learning. I love to be in the mountains and deserts and ‘feel’ the place every time I paint a scene and I try to paint the ‘feeling’ as well as landscape. I walk through the desert every time I paint sage. I see and feel myself fishing, reading or just relaxing in the river and lake scenes. I climb the mountains in my scenes and backpack into the wilderness scenes. I reside in Boise, Idaho but was raised in the Magic Valley. I spent my youth and most of my adult life climbing Idaho mountains, backpacking in the wilderness, relaxing in the forests and deserts and fishing in the lakes, rivers and streams. My greatest artistic wish is that the viewers of my art catch the glory that is Idaho and also ‘feel’ themselves as being in the scenes.
